Conrad Schick and his World

Location:

Paulus-Haus und Albright-Institute

Date and Time

6th/7th February 2023

On the 6th/7th February 2023, the conference “Conrad Schick and his World” took place in Paulus-Haus and the Albright-Institut with speakers and numerous participants from here and from abroad. The lectures, which will be published in a conference volume, shed light on numerous facets of his life and work: biographical, his contribution to the archeology of Jerusalem, his collaboration with the Palestine Exploration Fund, individual discoveries by Schick and their significance, as well as his models. Visits to the Tabor House (Swedish Theological Institute), Schick’s private home, the German Protestant Institute of Archaeology in the Holy Land and Christ Church, where – as in the Paulus House – Schick’s models are kept, complemented the academic lectures. We are happy about a very successful conference and thank all participants!

For over a hundred years we offer travelers a hospitable place to visit Jerusalem and its holy sites. Our house, with its serene atmosphere in a lavish historic setting, is itself a part of Jerusalem's history. Located directly at the Damascus Gate of the Old City, with its colorful oriental life, you can reach the memorial sites of the three major world religions in a few minutes on foot.
